New students or faculty members generally obtain an ID near the start of their first semester. The Digital ID is currently valid even without a photo, however, we do advise taking or submitting an ID photo as soon as possible.
Sending a new ID photo remotely: To send a new photo for your Digital ID, send an email to ID@brooklyn.cuny.edu with your name, EMPLID, your affiliation (undergraduate/graduate student, faculty, staff), and photo attachment. Your photo MUST meet these requirements:
- Photo must be taken from the shoulders up; white/clear background.
- Photo must be in JPEG/JPG format.
- No hats.
- No sunglasses.
- Clothing exceptions can be made for religious reasons.
Taking a new photo in-person: You can take a new photo, free of charge, at the Enrollment Services Center. The Digital ID photo will update the next business day.
