Important Update About The Federal Direct Loan Request Process for 2026-2027
2026-2027 Why were Loan Processes Delayed?
Federal Direct Loan processing for the 2026-2027 year was delayed until early July. The forms are now available and students may submit loan requests through Dynamic Forms.
This delay happened because the U.S. Department of Education has published updated rules related to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). In order to comply with the law, CUNYfirst was being updated to allow for loans to be able to post to CUNYfirst.
