Congratulations on deciding on Visual, Media & Performing Arts!

There is a legendary component to the departments that make up the School of Visual, Media and Performing Arts. Some of the finest artists and performers in the country, such as painters Mark Rothko and Philip Pearlstein, composer Tania León, violinist Itzhak Perlman, and documentary filmmaker Sarah Christman, have taught here. Learning from such legends, our students have enjoyed enormous success in their fields. Each department is equipped with top-notch equipment and provides students access to stellar studio and performance spaces.

  • Conducting an informational interview with a professional is a great way to gain insight into a career field while also building an important connection. Informational interviews are a meeting with an industry professional where you ask career questions and discuss their career journey. LinkedIn is an important tool to aid in forming professional connections

  • Organize a peer-support group or join a Brooklyn College Club or Organization (See Club List at bottom of document)

Interview Preparation

Receiving an Offer

  • Don’t renege on an offer once you have accepted another offer. You’ve made a commitment in which employers expect you to follow your word. Usage of the Center assumes you will abide by our terms & conditions where reneging is explicitly not allowed 
  • Don’t create a bad reputation for yourself, your peers, or the college. You are expected to be professional. Watch this video to learn more about what you should do if you have multiple offers

Clubs and Organizations

You can register for most clubs on Campus Groups. To connect directly with the Clubs, you can also join any of their Student WhatsApp chats.
