<p>A company visit is an exclusive opportunity to visit an organization that you may be interested in. It often features professionals, tours, and networking opportunities. Company visits can be daunting if you’re unprepared, but if you follow the steps below, you’ll succeed!  </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>During a company visit you&#8217;ll:</strong> </h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Learn about career paths for your major of interest. </li>

<li>Gain insights into the organizational structure. </li>

<li>Hear about internship/job programs<strong>,</strong> timelines, and how to stand out in the application process. </li>

<li>Receive networking tips and career advice from industry professionals. </li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Conduct &amp; Professionalism</strong> </h3>

<p>Remember that you are representing Brooklyn College and that you should act in a positive manner, so we can maintain these company relationships. Here are some conduct guidelines to review:&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Please review our <a href="https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fstudents.brooklyn.edu%2Ffiles%2F2022%2F09%2FBuilding-Professional-Relationships-Presentation.pdf&amp;data=05%7C02%7CAlexius.Petitfrere%40brooklyn.cuny.edu%7C9cd95dfd04024310935008de15a0a8ea%7C6f60f0b35f064e099715989dba8cc7d8%7C0%7C0%7C638971976931043215%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=b9BibciclCkXcQDoa5j21GN0Wk9lFuGKJpPsYJ899%2BQ%3D&amp;reserved=0" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Building Professional Relationships presentation</a> which details best practices when networking and meeting potential mentors. </li>

<li>Although a company visit is not an interview, <strong>this interaction can open doors</strong>, so make a good impression. This is <strong>NOT </strong>a recruitment event. </li>

<li><strong>By attending, you will be representing Brooklyn College</strong>, therefore we need 100% attendance.
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Can’t attend? Let the organizer know ASAP. </li>

<li><strong>Not showing up to the event will disqualify you from being considered for any future company visits.</strong> </li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Before the Visit:</strong> </h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Be prepared to introduce yourself (name, major, graduation, experience, career interest, etc.) through your <a href="https://students.brooklyn.edu/knowledge-base/how-can-i-craft-an-elevator-pitch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">elevator pitch</a>.</li>

<li>Be prepared to answer some basic questions such as <em>why you are interested in attending the visit</em> or about <em>your career interests</em>.&nbsp;</li>

<li><strong>Research the company and your host (if shared): </strong>prepare 5 thoughtful questions about the company as a whole, working there and/or specifically for the host(s). Here are some <a href="https://students.brooklyn.edu/knowledge-base/what-are-potential-questions-to-ask-a-mentor/">samples</a>!
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Try to use the company name in questions instead of “you guys” (e.g.: what do you guys look for in intern candidates?”)&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Day of the Visit:</strong> </h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Be sure to wear<strong><em> </em></strong><a href="https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fstudents.brooklyn.edu%2Fknowledge-base%2Fwhy-is-it-important-to-dress-up-appropriately%2F&amp;data=05%7C02%7CAlexius.Petitfrere%40brooklyn.cuny.edu%7C9cd95dfd04024310935008de15a0a8ea%7C6f60f0b35f064e099715989dba8cc7d8%7C0%7C0%7C638971976931084605%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=Xv6JbLniwnMalrjo0oFFMTPjBUp7BhA141cIQo8itXA%3D&amp;reserved=0" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>business casual attire</strong></a> (avoid jeans, sneakers, tank tops or revealing clothing). </li>
</ul>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Arrive on time: </strong>plan your commute and arrive 15 minutes early and wait nearby. As you know, the trains/buses are always delayed, so always plan ahead! </li>
</ul>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Network with professionals and ask for a way you can connect with them in the future (email or LinkedIn).</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>After the Visit:&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;</h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Follow up via email or on LinkedIn with those you met and leave a message thanking them for their time.  </li>
