How can students make the best out of ending an internship?

ENDING YOUR INTERNSHIP: 

  • Ask them for feedback if it was not provided. This gives you ideas of things you can work on before your next internship or job 
  • Keep track of the professional contacts you make and add them to your LinkedIn profile 
  • Be sure to send a thank you note (preferably handwritten) on your last day 
  • Use your tasks and projects to update your resume 
  • Schedule a meeting with your supervisor to reflect on what you learned
  • Keep track of all of the professional contacts you make, keep their emails handy such as on a Google Spreadsheet and add them to your LinkedIn profile  
  • Review Idealist’s End of Internship checklist
  • Be sure to send a thank you note (preferably handwritten or email on your last day) 
  • Update your resume 
  • Email intern@brooklyn.cuny.edu to share your feedback of your experience especially if it was excellent or there were issues
