Lookup Your Local Resource ID

Your WebCentral ID is separate from your CUNY Login, which provides access to CUNY-wide applications and services. Learn about the three accounts you need to know as a student.

How do I create a WebCentral ID?

Actively enrolled students can create a new WebCentral ID by completing the new user registration form. You will be prompted to add a recovery email or phone number for additional security that can be managed from our SMART credentials tool.

Physical ID: The physical ID includes a Library ID barcode that must be activated prior to use. To check if yours has been activated, or to activate a new card, take your physical ID to the BC Library Circulation desk to have your Library ID barcode activated.

Off-campus access: Use your CUNYfirst account to login and access online resources, including articles, e-books, and journals/databases. No Library ID is required.

Getting Started (Enrolling in SMART Credentials)

1. Open your SMART Credentials profile
2. Add and verify your new recovery phone and/or email options. All new recovery phone numbers and email addresses need to be verified (the application walks you through this brief verification process).

How do SMART credentials work once enrolled?

1) If you forget your password or attempt to change your password, a verification code will be sent to one of your verified contact options.

2) You are required to enter this verification code to verify your identity and change your password.

Benefit: Even if someone obtains access to your EMPL ID and Date of Birth, they are unable to change your password (without access to your phone or email). It’s an additional layer of security.

Are SMART Credentials required?

Enrolling in SMART Credentials is currently required for new WebCentral IDs, but opt-in for existing accounts and ACCESS CODES.

How do I change or remove my recovery phone number or email address?

Open your SMART Credentials profile and select Manage Account Recovery Options button. From there you can add or change your recovery phone and email address. All new recovery phone numbers and email addresses need to be verified (the application walks you through this brief verification process).

What if I lose access to my verified contact options?

You will need to contact the ITS Helpdesk and verify your identity with a valid photo id.

How do SMART Credentials work with Access Codes?

SMART credentials are currently optional for ACCESS CODES. Faculty/staff members enrolled in SMART credentials will be sent a verification code when changing their ACCESS CODE.

Your primary CUNY student email address is based on your CUNY Login username: firstname.lastname##@login.cuny.edu

You also have a branded email addresses (aliases) that forward to your primary mailbox:

• Your Brooklyn College branded email alias is: firstname.lastname##@stu-mail.brooklyn.cuny.edu)
• Your CUNY branded email alias is: firstname.lastname##@cuny.edu
• If you attend or work at other CUNY colleges, you will receive additional branded email aliases for those colleges.

Your student email password

You do not have a separate email password. You use your CUNY Login to sign in to your CUNY student mailbox.

You will have the option to use any of your available CUNY email aliases as your preferred email address for sending email.
