CUNY recommends installing and using the Microsoft Authenticator app as your primary verification method, but you can choose alternatives such as the Microsoft Outlook mobile app (install), Google Authenticator, SMS/Text message, or voice/phone call during setup. You only need to complete the MFA setup process once, and it will be applied to all Microsoft 365 applications on all your devices.

IMPORTANT: If you enable other voice/text verification options and require access to your college email when traveling outside of the country, ensure that you have access to the phone number used for MFA verification or enable one of the other authenticator app options, like Microsoft Authenticator.
