<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Step 1: Understand Why You’re Here</strong></h3>



<p>You were selected for V4 or V5 verification by the U.S. Department of Education. This means you must confirm your identity before your financial aid can be processed.<br><br>Since you cannot verify your identity in person or with a notary, please log in to Student Forms to confirm that the &#8220;<strong>Remote Identity Verification Information</strong>&#8221; task is on your account. This confirms that you’ve been approved to complete your identity verification remotely via a Zoom appointment.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Step 3: Prepare Your ID</strong></h3>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Step 4: Attend Your Remote Meeting</strong></h3>

<p>Get in-person or virtual help with filing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and your NY State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) application for 2025-2026. Financial aid filing assistance is available by appointment. <br><br>Note: the deadline to file a 2025-2026 FAFSA is before your last day of enrollment for the term in which you are seeking financial aid. <br><br>Drop-in service may be available provided that all appointment slots are not taken. <div class="wp-block-ht-blocks-toggle wp-block-hb-toggle"><div class="wp-block-hb-toggle__title"><span>IMPORTANT: Independent Students who are married but filed taxes separately:</span></div><div class="wp-block-hb-toggle__content"><div class="wp-block-hb-toggle__contentwrap">If you and your spouse are married but filed a tax return separately your spouse will need to create an FSA ID to login and consent and approve to have their tax information imported into the FAFSA, even if they did not file a tax return. They will also need to answer income and asset questions listed above but in their own “Spouse” section of the FAFSA. If your spouse can attend the workshop with you they must create an FSA ID at least 3 days before you attend the workshop and should bring all of their relevant information that you the student would bring (outlined above). Refer to the contributor section above for more information.</div></div></div>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How To Submit the FAFSA® Form if Your Contributor Doesn’t Have an SSN</h3>
