You were selected for V4 or V5 verification by the U.S. Department of Education. This means you must confirm your identity before your financial aid can be processed.

Since you cannot verify your identity in person or with a notary, please log in to Student Forms to confirm that the “Remote Identity Verification Information” task is on your account. This confirms that you’ve been approved to complete your identity verification remotely via a Zoom appointment.

Step 2: Schedule Your Virtual Appointment

You’ll need to meet with a Financial Aid staff member using Zoom.

You can schedule your virtual meeting using Navigate to book an appointment with a Financial Aid Advisor and select the service type V4/V5 Verifying Identity.

Make sure to schedule the appointment as soon as possible to avoid delays in your financial aid processing.

Step 3: Prepare Your ID

Before your meeting, make sure you have one of the following valid, unexpired, government-issued photo IDs ready:

A) U.S. Passport

B) State-issued driver’s license

C) State-issued non-driver ID

Note: College IDs and military IDs (due to prohibition from being photocopied) are not accepted for identity verification.

Step 4: Attend Your Remote Meeting

During your scheduled Zoom meeting you must:

1) Prepare to have your camera on for video session
2) Show your valid, non-expired, government issued photo ID clearly on camera

The Financial Aid staff member will:
1) Confirm your identity
2) Capture a screenshot of your ID

This step satisfies the federal requirement for visual identity verification.

Step 5: We’ll Upload your Identity Verification

After your meeting:

The staff member will upload the ID screenshot on your behalf

The staff member will upload the Remote Identity Document Staff Certification form

Step 6: Final Review

Once your documents are uploaded to Student Forms, our office will review them. If everything is in order, your V4/V5 verification file will proceed to the next steps for processing and completion.

After your documents are uploaded and reviewed, please note that you will be contacted if additional information is needed. If the requested information is not provided, we will be unable to complete the verification process to determine your financial aid eligibility.

Financial aid filing assistance is available by appointment.

Note: the deadline to file a 2025-2026 FAFSA is before your last day of enrollment for the term in which you are seeking financial aid.

Drop-in service may be available provided that all appointment slots are not taken. Students are encouraged to make an appointment to ensure a slot is available.

How do I Prepare for The FAFSA Filing Workshop?

Step 1) Review the “Pro Tips for the FAFSA® Form” Guide

Step 2) Create a StudentAid.gov account (formerly the FSA ID)

Review the Guide “Creating Your StudentAid.gov Account“

Action Items to Complete 3 Days Before Attending a Workshop:
1) Create your Studentaid.gov account (FSA ID)

2) If dependent have your parent(s) create a Studentaid.gov (FSA ID) Video: How to Create an Account and Username (FSA ID) for StudentAid.gov

3) If independent and married have your spouse create a Studentaid.gov (FSA ID) Video: How to Create an Account and Username (FSA ID) for StudentAid.gov

Use the “Who counts as a parent on the FAFSA® form? Wizard” to determine who counts as a parent if you are unsure.

Step 3) Documents and Information to bring to the Workshop

Dependent Students

Bring the following information to the workshop:
1) Contributing Parents’ SSNs (if parents are married or unmarried and living together)

2) Contributing Parents’ Valid Email Addresses (if parents are married or unmarried and living together)

3) For the 2025-2026 FAFSA your 2023 tax return/income information

4) Your current balances of cash, savings, and checking accounts (as applicable)

5) Your Net worth of investments, businesses, and farm (as applicable)

6) Parent(s) current Family Size (click to watch who is considered in this category).
Learn how to determine if your parent(s) is/are a FAFSA contributor
If you are not sure which parent is considered a contributor use the “Who counts as a parent on the FAFSA® form? Wizard” to help you make that determination.
My parents cannot attend the workshop with me, when do they complete their section of the FAFSA?
If your parents are unable to attend, you will still be able to complete the student portion of the application during the workshop. However, your FAFSA will still be incomplete until the other contributors complete their section of the FAFSA form.
Dependent Students whose parents can attend a workshop should bring their:
1) FSA ID Login information

2) For the 2025-2026 FAFSA: 2023 tax return/income information

3) Amount of child support received, if any, in 2023

4) Current balances of cash, savings, and checking accounts

5) Amount of Net worth of investments, businesses, and farm

Dependent Student and Parent Resources for Completing the FAFSA:

Independent Students

Bring the following information to the workshop:
1) FSA ID Login information

2) For the 2025-2026 FAFSA: 2023 tax return/income information (student and spouse)

3) Amount of child support received, if any, in 2023

5) Amount of Net worth of investments, businesses, and farm

IMPORTANT: Independent Students who are married but filed taxes separately:
If you and your spouse are married but filed a tax return separately your spouse will need to create an FSA ID to login and consent and approve to have their tax information imported into the FAFSA, even if they did not file a tax return. They will also need to answer income and asset questions listed above but in their own “Spouse” section of the FAFSA. If your spouse can attend the workshop with you they must create an FSA ID at least 3 days before you attend the workshop and should bring all of their relevant information that you the student would bring (outlined above). Refer to the contributor section above for more information.

How To Submit the FAFSA® Form if Your Contributor Doesn’t Have an SSN

Review the Federal Student Aid webpage on how to submit the FAFSA if one or more of your FAFSA contributors does not have an SSN. Note that there are two sets of instructions for students who already started the FAFSA and those that have not.
